JPRD holds food drive, tells winter break activities

LogoThe Jefferson park and recreation department is once again holding its holiday food drive to benefit the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center food pantry.

Now through Jan. 3, the daily fee for non-members will be waived for anyone who brings at least one non-perishable item for the food pantry. At least one item per person, per day is requested. Members are also invited to bring items for the food pantry.

JPRD will host free activities from 1 to 3 pm for students in grades 4-8 between Christmas and New Year’s.  Nets will be up for badminton and beach volleyball Monday, Dec. 28. On Tuesday, the scooters will be out for relay races, scooter soccer, obstacle courses and more. On Wednesday, Dec. 30, floor hockey will be the set up in the gym. There is no charge for any of the activities.

Children ages 4-6 are invited to ring in the new year Thursday, Dec. 31, at an Itty Bitty New Year party. The  fun begins at 11 am and lasts until 12:30 pm. Children will make crafts, play games, and even have a noon countdown to 2016. There is a $5 per child charge and pre-registrations are requested.
